What is the difference between Work & Task?

What is the difference between a Work & a Task?
  • A Work is an actual tangible output or called as the Deliverable in any Project management whereas a Task is a subset or one portion/part/step of work which is required to  complete the Work.
  • Work is expected to be completed in a a day or two.whereas a task is expected to be completed within a day and that helps in completing a  part of a work.
  • Different tasks can be done  by different persons to complete a work or different tasks can also be done by the same person  whereas work is normally delivered only  one person.
  • There can be only one Incharge & one Assignee  for a work whereas  the tasks can be assigned to one or more persons.
