What Is the difference between the fields “Type & Parent”?

What Is the difference between the fields “Type & Parent”? Type- Refers to the type of the task (child task) which we are going to create and the Type is selected from the picklist which contains the following list.

Milestone
Heading
Work
Task

The above list is called the hierarchy of tasks used in any Project Management. Parent - Refers to the Parent task for the task type selected in the field Task.

Relation between the fields “Type & Parent “: Based on the task type selected in the Task field the respective Parent tasks will get loaded in the Parent field.
