Unit of measurement helps you to define the various measurement that you use in order to purchase and store items. GoodBooks provides various powerful options to setup how you want to measure a particular item.
Units of Measurement (UOM) is the way in which any measurement is done. In the case of items this can be measurement of Quantity. Other units can be on time, distance etc
For Quantity measurement generally the following units are used. Nos, Kgs, Meters, Doz etc. Depending on the nature of items dealt in an enterprise many units may be required and can be created here. This is a simple process. In most of the cases simple units this should be sufficient.
However, there are some complex measurement requirements in handling some of the items based on the business practices. These situations need advanced functionality in handling the UOM. GoodBooks provides the necessary options for handling these situations. Please refer to section on UOM SET for details on this.
