Routing – Overview

What is Routing? Routing refers to the sequence of process required to produce any product.  Data in routing is used for various purposes including, work order planning, costing etc. Why Routing information is Required? For items that are "produced",  the process involved in the manufacturing are to be specified. Depending on the industry and nature of products, these will vary.  Even for the same product , the required process may vary from time to time.  Routing captures these data.  System uses this information at multiple places. Where Routing information is used? The following are the some of the areas where the routing information is used
  • Work order generation from indent
  • Work order generation during Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
  • Costing of an item
  • Stage of material requirement  in BOM
  • Setting of Bill of Resources for each process (BOR)
  • Setting details of Operation for each process
Features Goodbooks supports several simple and advanced features in routing.  The following are the features supported.
  • Stage wise process sequence
  • Supporting both In-house and Subcontracting process
  • Multiple versions of Routing
  • Routing specification by itemwise, categorywise etc
  • Work order generation type setting in process level viz., Productwise, Processwise or Locationwise
  • Routing specification for Nested items, Assembly  etc
  • Simple or multiple path routing option with reference process
  • Optional Auto updation of Stock Keeping Units (SKU)  and Bill of Resource (BOR)
  • Optional Operation level details
