Material Management Masters

Material Management Masters refers to the standard and semi-standard information that are required to be maintained in order to have an effective management of material. Stores module of GoodBooks provides the necessary options for creation and management of these standard masters.  These include details like Item Master, Stores Master etc. The following table lists these masters with related information.  Details of each of these masters are provided in a separate section. The list is aimed at providing an overview of the masters in GoodBooks Stores. These masters can be classified into four categories
  • Main Masters
Refers to core masters that are essential for the Stores Module
  • Sub Masters
Refers to the masters required in filling up the main masters. These are information to be prepared in a master format and are used in preparing the Main Master characteristics
  • Common Masters
Refers to masters that are used in Material Management module. But are also are required in other modules. These are typically created in GoodBooks Administration module.
  • Feature Based Masters
GoodBooks Material Management has lots of advanced features, which are required for selected industries and products. Based on the needs of an enterprise, these features can be activated. The masters related to these advanced features are classified under the Feature Based masters section. The following table lists the masters required under each of these categories. Corresponding section in the user guide gives detailed information about that particular master.  The Data Collection Sheet annexure can be referred for sample and details on most of these masters.

Main Masters

Masters Particulars
Item Master Lists of materials dealt in an enterprise along with various details specific to that item.  These details are used to capture the information about the item in terms if its nature, classification, tax and duty related information, pricing and commercial information etc.Please refer to the section on Item Master for further details
Item - Stores GoodBooks Item Master is a central repository of all types of item.  Enterprises having multiple businesses and braches and which are having different types of materials need to create all of them using the item master option.However, each of the branch, division and even warehouse may use only a subset of the total item list.  The applicable items for a particular entity can be selected using the item vs company option.The setting can be done for Company, Branch , division and Store.  Material Information relevant to a particular store (which is different from the information given in the item master) can also be specified.This option gives the list of items applicable only during transaction.
