- Not Applicable - For products which are bought out (non manufacture)
- Standard - For products where the BOM is fixed (does not change from order to order) This however supports changes in BOM as versions with effective From and To dates
- Non Standard - Products for which the BOM may vary from order to order are considered as non-standard (or Custom BOM). Products which are Assemble-to-order, Make-to-order, Engineered-to-order and Design-to-order are covered in this.
- Standard Process Wise - Products for which BOM is specified at each process wise.
- Rawmaterial - Components which uses ONE Raw material only are classified under this. Instead of defining a detailed BOM, the required raw material and Quantity can be specified as part of routing itself. Typically used for components made out of Pipe, Tube etc.
- Nesting - Components made from Sheets are covered in this category. Typically these are used in situations like Sheet metal etc where material requirement may vary based on the composition of other components in the nesting plan. Same component may have different Waste/Scrap attributed based on the type of plan and there for material requirement may vary.
