Release notes are documents that are distributed with software products, sometimes when the product is still in the development or test state. For products that have already been in use by clients, the release note is delivered to the customer when an update is released.
Goodbooks used to release update periodically in case of new features added. The client will be receiving a URL to download the latest release from Goodbooks.
Step by Step procedure to update the latest version of Goodbooks ERP.
Once received the URL for downloading latest release , browse the URL, you will get following page like
Click Download link to download the Release files.
After the file downloaded extract the files and save in a folder
After extracting the compressed file ( zip ), execute (run) the file and you will get screen like
Press <Next> Button
set the folder in which the Goodbooks ERP installed. It is usually any drive with the name "UNISOFT" and press <Next> button
Ths system will start installing the latest release of Goodbooks ERP.
Once the installation is completed press <Finish> button
the files are stores in Installed folder ( UNISOFT ). Find the folder "Database" and open the folder.
There is a file "USCIMPSYS.BAK" in the folder. This is a database file and need to update in DATABASE. To update the file in Database you need a little bit knowledge of Database. People who don't have the knowledge of database then get support from the one who knows about database or contact Unisoft , the technical team will support you for the same.
Open the Database management screen. You will see the database named as "USCIMPSYS" and this should be updated with the latest one. Follow the procedure to update the same
Right ( mouse ) click the database select "Task" , Select "Restore" and select "Database"
Select "Device" option from Source. In the Device option click the (...) button from right and set the folder where the latest release downloaded.
In the Destination option check in Database option "USCIMPSYS" database. If any other database is set here then the ERP system will not work. By wrongly selecting database other than "USCIMPSYS" all your transaction data will be lost. Please ensure the database. If you have any doubt please reach Unisoft for immediate support.
click "Option" in left Top ( under Select a page ).
Click Overwrite files existing database(WITH REPLACE) option under Restore Option and click <OK>
click <Add> button and select the "USCIMPSYS.BAK" file from Installed folder
(Unisoft /Database /USCIMPSYS.BAK
Click "OK" button
Click <Add> button
Click <OK>
Now the latest database which is having new features is updated.
open the folder "ReleaseDetails"
you will find one text file "details"
open the file
note the FE Minified Version number. Here for example "44387". This number will change for each update.
Open the UNISOFT folder and open the sub folder named "FE"
you will see
right click gb4.1 folder and you will see
select "TotoiseSVN" and then select "Update to revision..."
Next to update the latest (Release) reports , do the following steps
Open Unisoft folder and click reports folder
Open "Jasper" folder in "Report" folder
and copy all the files in the folder including sub-folder
Open the "Jasperreportsserver" in D:drive
Open "apache-tomcat" folder
Open "webapps" folder
Open "jasper-webapp" folder
Open "Reports" folder
and replace the copied files in this folder
once all the above steps are completed then login the Goodbooks ERP. The system will ask you to sync the database
click the "Start Sync" button to complete the release update process.
