Field | Particulars |
Type | The BOM Type. This can be either product based or order based.Select Product based for standard BOM (default) Select, Order based for Design-to-Order item where the BOM may vary from order to order. |
Product Code & Name | Select the item for which BOM has to be prepared. This is the resultant or produced item. The list will show items which are set as manufacturable in Item Master. Bought out items will not be shown in the list |
Version | GoodBooks supports multiple versions of BOM for the same product. This feature is very useful, where alternate BOM are made or when BOM changes after some time period.Versioning is a powerful feature, which can be used in various situations. |
From/To Date | The Date from which the version is valid. Creating a new BOM version with a different from date will automatically set the To Date of the previous BOM version |
Quantity | Enter the quantity of product that will be produced using the BOM. Usually this is done on a Unit basis. Ie to produce one (1) unit what are the material requirements is specified. Some products and BOM are done on a batch quantity basis. Say to produce 100 quantities the material requirements are given. In this case, the quantity to be produced has to be entered as 100. |
Waste/Excess % | For some products, there may be an expected waste %. This can be specified here,if required. Default is 0. |
Required Quantity | System calculated quantity. In case of waste/excess this will be calculated asRequired Qty = Quantity + (Quantity * WastePercentage/100) |
Default Version | Good Books support multiple versions of BOM. One of the versions can be set as the default and the system will use that version as the first choice. If required the user can select alternate versions. |
Is Changeable | BOM is a master data. This data is used during transactions like consumption and planning etc. Normally the masters data are not allowed to be changed in the transaction. However in some production process, the exact usage of material may vary. This type of variance may be permitted in the process as an accepted norm. Industries where the change is permitted can enable this option. On enabling this option, at the time of actual production entry in transaction, user will be permitted to alter quantities for items, which are marked as changeable. (see Is changeable below) |
Status | The status of the BOM data, as Active, Amended or Inactive can be set. Only active BOMs can be used in day-to-day transactions. |
