Allocation, found in the Administration module of GoodBooks refers to categorizing transactions, products and similar entities under a specific project. Your organization will handle a lot of projects and this will help you sort projects based on the parties you deal with or from any arrangement of your choosing.
Classify even the projects using Allocation Type screen. This will provide you clarity on the project and its exact type.
