Nesting Plan

Nesting plan is a production design plan that seeks to reduce wastage of materials by laying out cutting patterns on a raw material. This is usually performed on sheet material. This screen is used to store the specifications of the plan with details like dimensions, wastage, various weights, etc.

Fields & its description:

  • Code

Enter any code for the nesting plan to be saved.

  • Reference

Type any reference information in this field related to the nesting plan. This maybe a particular specification such as 8mm or similar.

  • Plan Type

Template – Template should be selected when this plan is to be used more than once.

One Time – This is a unique nesting plan used for one time use only.

  • Prepared/Approved By

In these fields, select the employee responsible for these plans. Prepared By is the employee who designed the nesting plan and the employee who checked and accepted the same should be mentioned in Approved By.

  • Item Code/Name

Select the item code and name of the source item respectively. E.g. Iron sheet.

  • SKU code/Name

This item would have a unique Stock Keeping Unit code and name. Select those in these fields.

  • Lot & Pack Number

Specify the lot and pack number to which this item belongs in the respective fields.

  • Dimension

Enter the dimension of the source material/item in this field for reference. This is usually in the following format – A X B X C.

  • Time

Note the time it takes for the cutting these patterns.

After entering the above details, go to the grid. (The fields present in between will be explained afterwards.)

  • Type

The output of the item type you have acquired using the nesting pattern should be selected. The type can be either Remnant – If this entry is the remaining part of an item or Item – if this is a whole separate item.

  • Item Code/Name

Specify the output item code and name here.

  • SKU Code/Name

Enter the Stock Keeping Unit code and name of the output item.

Note the Quantity and weight of the item in these fields and this will calculate the Total Weight(Quantity * Weight). Similarly Total length is also calculated this way(Quantity * Length). Repeat the same for Duration. Next, you can type any details regarding this in Remarks. Dimensions can also be noted.

Based on your entries in the grid, the sum values will be filled in Sheet weight, Total component weight, Wastage and Run length.
